A New Laser Therapy to Delay the Progression of Osteoarthritis

Speaker: Krista Durney, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Krista Durney’s work explores experimental models of articular cartilage wear progression during activities of daily living in order to improve understanding of osteoarthritis onset. Using such damage models, lubricants and novel therapies are explored. In this talk, Krista presented a novel laser-based method for strengthening cartilage tissue and delaying wear progression.
