Uprooting, Exile, Anchoring in my New York Poems

Speaker: Anna Frajlich, Senior Lecturer Emerita, Department of Slavic Languages Associate Faculty Member, Harriman Institute, and EPIC member

Anna Frajlich made a bilingual presentation of her poetry. Frajlich is an award-winning poet and has been called one “of the most interesting phenomena in the contemporary Polish poetry … which “reveals deep truth about the existence of an individual entangled in the tragic fate of contemporary civilization.” (2003, Turzanski Foundation). She placed her work in the context of the 1968 forced Exodus of Jews from Poland. Frajlich was introduced by the Harriman Institute’s Ronald Meyer, a master Slavic translator.
