EPIC Conversation with Eric Foner
Eric Foner, DeWitt Clinton Professor Emeritus of History at Columbia University, is a renowned historian specializing in American race relations, intellectual, political, and social history. He has served as president of three major historical organizations and received numerous accolades, including the Bancroft and Pulitzer Prizes. His influential works include Reconstruction: America’s Unfinished Revolution, The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery, and Gateway to Freedom. He has curated exhibitions, advised historical institutions, and contributed extensively to public history through media and lectures. His scholarship and teaching have shaped historical discourse for generations.
Professor Foner will be in conversation with Steven Hahn, Professor of History of New York University. Steven Hahn received his Ph.D. at Yale University and is currently Professor of History at New York University. He is a widely published specialist on the international history of slavery, emancipation, and race, on the construction of American empire, and on the social and political history of the “long nineteenth century” in the United States.
