For over fifty years, the nationwide Upward Bound program has been helping youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds prepare for college. The Columbia version of this very successful program is called Double Discovery. You'll enjoy hearing about its history from Roger Lehecka, who was an undergrad Columbia math major when he and a few friends first applied for a grant for a wild summer project.... In a sense it's a story of our generation, and its impact is still increasing.
