Professor Peter Strauss will lead the next Book Club session on October 7, where we will be discussing Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon. Song of Solomon was Morrison’s third novel, addressing the issues of American racism in a way that propelled her to national fame, and underlay her winning the Nobel Prize in Literature. New members are welcome to join the book club at any time, and if you are not a member and Song of Solomon appeals to you, we hope you will join us on October 7.
The EPIC Book Club brings together members who share a love of reading and thoughtful conversation. Meeting monthly via Zoom, the Book Club offers intellectual exchange, discovery, and community, connecting EPIC members wherever they may live. It is shaped by its members. Participants are encouraged to suggest future titles, help determine how selections are made, and volunteer to lead discussions.
We hope for eclectic reading selections, spanning both fiction and nonfiction and drawing from a wide range of subjects, genres, cultures, and historical periods. The goal is to foster good reading and lively discussions, encouraging new perspectives and meaningful dialogue.
If you would like to join the Book Club, suggest future titles, or volunteer to lead a discussion, we look forward to hearing from you. To join, please email us at [email protected]. Also send suggested future titles and indicate your willingness to preside at future sessions to Professor Peter Strauss, [email protected].
