Albert J. Spuler
Al Spuler retired from Columbia after a rewarding career spanning three decades in higher education administration. Throughout his career, he enjoyed working with talented colleagues across a wide range of academic and administrative areas, helping groups work more effectively, embrace new technologies, and create better experiences for students, faculty, parents, and alumni.
During his time at Columbia, Al held leadership roles in Columbia College—in the Office of the Dean, the Center for Career Education, and Undergraduate Admissions. As Associate Dean for Planning and Information Systems at Columbia College, he led initiatives to modernize administrative processes, improve advising and information systems, and strengthen collaboration across departments. Al holds an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Political Science and History from Rutgers University. After more than 30 years living in Manhattan, he is now enjoying retirement in Spain and looks forward to embracing a new chapter, discovering new experiences, and enjoying all that life abroad has to offer.
