Joseph Giovannelli

Joseph Giovannelli retired in 2024 as Senior Associate Dean for Education Finance and Administration at Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. His 44-year career in Education leadership included senior administrative roles at NYU/Steinhardt, CUNY/Brooklyn College, and Sarah Lawrence College. He began his career on the Morningside Campus in several finance roles including serving as Associate University Budget Director and Assistant Vice President for Finance for Columbia’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Joe divides his time between Morningside Heights and a home in Ancram, New York in the Hudson Valley where he serves as Board President of Habitat for Humanity of Columbia and Greene Counties. He is also a Trustee of Columbia-Greene Community College of SUNY.

Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College and a Master’s degree from GSAS.
